The 2019-2020 NBA season has come to an end, but what is in store for the future? This year the Los Angeles Lakers took home the championship for the franchise’s 17th title. Lebron James and Anthony Davis led this team to greatness throughout the entire season. This team was viewed as a threat for the entire year due to their veterans and up and coming stars. Veterans such as Lebron, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard and more helped give this team playoff experience and knowledge along the way. Many players on the Lakers captured their first title such as Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, Dwight Howard, and Jared Dudley. With the high likelihood of Anthony Davis resigning this upcoming free agency, many see the Lakers repeating their greatness and winning yet another ring. But, plenty of other teams have developed and are ready to compete with the NBA champions in the upcoming years.
Teams such as the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans are only trending upward heading into the 2020-2021 NBA season. Adding superstars or rebuilding is the main cause of joy for these franchises. Players such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving could not be happier in preparation for the next season as they decided to team up in Brooklyn. The Warriors could not be any happier, coming off their historical run with a top draft pick and new star player Andrew Wiggins. This next season will go down in history as one of the most competitive to compete in. With underdogs such as the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trailblazers, and Oklahoma City Thunder, they only create a more crazy scene for the Western Conference. In the other conference, teams such as the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics and more would love to show who they are and beat the team of the West when it matters most, the NBA Finals.
The NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, did an excellent job with keeping the players and staff safe and healthy. The playoffs were played at Disney World in Orlando, Florida where the teams stayed, for over three months. Over 170 games were played and not one person tested positive for COVID-19. The bubble started with 22 teams and narrowed down each week or two because teams were eliminated. But how will the NBA do next season with a full 32 teams. Will they do another bubble? Will they play at their own stadiums and travel? Fans? No answers have been determined to any of those questions yet by the NBA. As of now, the NBA hopes to get teams playing the new season in early January 2021.
The NBA season was hectic, to say the very least. The Los Angeles Lakers came out of their playoff drought with a bang, and won the NBA Championship. Fans, players, and NBA staff should all tip their caps to Adam Silver for what an amazing job he did with this season. The next NBA season could not come any closer, as many are ready to witness one of the greatest and most competitive seasons in NBA history.
